Students may check out books every day. In order to check out new books, students must be within the limits of books allowed and have no overdue books.
| Grade Level | Items That May Be Checked Out |
| Kindergarten | One book |
| First | One book |
| Second | Two books |
| Third | Three books |
| Fourth | Four books |
| Fifth | Five books |
Kindergarten and first grade students may take an additional book as they develop responsibility. When doing a research project, students are allowed to borrow additional titles to help complete their project
Overdue books
Books are circulated for a loan period of 2 weeks, and may be renewed as necessary. We will send overdue reminder notices home in the Monday folders. We do not charge fines for overdue materials. However, when a book is one week overdue, the student will not be allowed to check out additional titles until the overdue item is returned or renewed.
It is the policy of The Wake County School System that lost or damaged materials are paid for by the student responsible. A bill will be sent home with the student. Refunds will be given if the book is found and returned in good condition. Please encourage your students to be responsible users of our library materials.

I accidentally turned in my Laurel Park Elementary book to the public library! What do I do?
Not to worry. The books will eventually make their way back to our school. It may take a while though and you won't be able to check out more until they return. Sometimes you might also turn in public library books to Laurel Park. We'll make sure they get back where they belong.
